Canen Border Collies

Fjurdy of Canen

Fjurdy of Canen is owned by Adrienne Noeyens and lives in Belgium. Here's what Adrienne has to say about her:

"I am very satisfied with Fjurdy. She is a super dog, a very hard worker and has a golden personality."

"When Fjurdy was 16 months old, we began with the obedience competitions (from August 2007 until August 2008). We participated in 22 classes, and reached first place in 20 of them. We reached second place in the other two, which is very good and almost couldn't be better. She is a very stable dog."

"In August 2008 we started a new sports year in a higher program and we've already competed in 17 classes. So far we've gained 9 first places, 6 second places, 1 third place and 1 fifth place."

"At the moment we are competing for a place in the Champions Cup of Belgium. In order to be eligible for a place in the Champions Cup we first have to compete in at least five provinces in Belgium. This competition will take place in Genk (Limburg) on 13 September 2009. I'm already pretty sure that we will be there that day. We will try to accomplish as many first places as we can to make sure that we will be in the first rank. The 40 best dogs in Belgium will be participating in that competition, so it's a real honor to compete there. And we will succeed, because she is a dream dog." - see below for the result!

"Fjurdy and I won the Belgian cup on 13 September 2009. For this we've worked very hard for a whole year. I've already told you that we would participate . and we did it!!"

"A whole year we've managed to stay first of all dogs in the obedience program 1. We had to compete in 48 competitions across seven districts of Belgium – winning 28 times, and coming second 14 times, third three times and fifth and seventh one time each. On one occassion we missed an 'apport' where Fjurdy had to find an 'apport' (a dummy) in a maze within 40 seconds. It is exceptional to win so many times. Usually you have to compete in around 70 competitions to qualify to participate in the Belgian Cup."

"On 18 August 2009 I had to enter my 15 best results to qualify for the Belgian Cup. After that, the selection was made, and the 40 best dogs in Belgium qualified. Fjurdy and I were top of the ranking with 1494/1500 points. Thus, we had a very good result."

"13 September was the big day. The Belgian Cup in Genk. We had to be present at 6.30am. Fjurdy and I had to wait around until 3pm because we were in the last group. It was a very exciting day. We are very proud to have won! It is exceptional to stay a whole year first in the ranking and also to end that day as champion. It is a dream come true after a whole year of hard work. It is unbelievable. It is fantastic!"

"It's like we've won the lottery. Fjurdy is a fantastic dog, with a lot of working drive and a golden heart. We are a very good team."

"From now on we will compete in the next program up – the highest program in obedience. We are looking forward to it, but it will be very hard. There are many dogs with a lot of experience in that program. But we will keep you posted.

"This year we participated in the highest Belgian competition, called “programma 2”, where only the 30 best Belgian dogs are allowed to compete. Just being allowed to compete is an achievement, but we gained second place!

To be selected for "programma 2" you have to compete during the entire year across the different Belgian regions and the 30 best dogs are selected - we were 13 out of 30 at the selection stage.

From last years’ “programma 1” we were the only participant out of 40 selected to compete in “programma 2”.

September 12th was the big day - at Turnhout, close to where we live. We were already delighted just to be competing. Appointed by lot, we had to compete first. The exercises were difficult, but Fjurdy did very well.

Result: 146 points out of 150. The best dog had 148.

Hurray! We were on the stand again. A magnificent second place on that beautiful day!

It was great. We had beaten all those experienced competitors. Unbelievable!

Fjurdy was also the youngest participating dog. She’s a great dog, such a good dog, and always prepared to practice. I believe Fjurdy is a once-in-a-lifetime dog and I hope I can enjoy her for many more years to come.

Meantime we already started a new competition year. Prospects are very good: 3 times first place and 6 times second place. We will keep you informed!"
